Health Revealed 1

Having come off the fast for about a week now, my weight has stayed about 10 lbs. lighter than before.  I feel much better with a more normal blood pressure.  I have done some moderate exercises and worked several days at the farm this past week.  I also did some light weight lifting.

I don’t view this shorter water fast as a failure.  Modest improvements have been accomplished by my weight loss and improved blood pressure.  Small gains are what is required to improve yourself.  Dr. Joel Fuhrman put it in this way, that he would rather have people improve their quality of life in small ways rather than avoid his teachings altogether because of his idealistic optimal lifestyle.  He is realistic and knows that everyone is not going to join his band wagon for excellent health, but at least they could make small changes to get some benefits.  They will feel & live better, that in itself is great.

Optimal health is radical in today’s very sick world and may not even seem to matter much, for we all must get old and die anyway!  Yet to past away in our sleep at a ripe old age is better than today’s long & painful battle, fighting for our lives because of our chronic food related diseases.  Optimal health makes it harder to ever suffer from our modern ailments which come from the Standard American Diet (SAD).  Optimal health allows a life to be as full as it can be.  Such living allows us to appreciate foods better.  Even simple lettuce has good flavor in such a diet.  Through the SAD food intake of its salt-fat-sugar low nutritional foods, our taste buds are basically turned off and can not sense the delicate flavors within whole foods (plant based foods in their more natural forms, unprocessed).  By the Eat to Live diet, health comes to the very core of our nature (enjoying foods with our taste buds).  For our taste buds are one of the first benefactors of improved health (being off and cured of our addiction to the SAD foods).  Within today’s restaurants, the buffet bars’ plain old whole foods come alive like in the TV commercials, in which one’s mouth burst into great sensations.  This happens when a person looses his SAD foods’ addictions and really taste the whole foods around him for the first time.  My wife may wonder at my joy of strawberries over her delight of ice cream.   I am more than glad to savor such unique and dreamy flavors from my new found Garden of Eden versus the old dismal SAD addiction.  Life can be much better through education that is what the doctor supplies, Dr. Joel Fuhrman.
